Kids learn financial independence

“Independence is financial” is the caption of this wealth word wall from Sparks Fly (Financial Literacy for YOU(th)). The wall is an exhibit sized tribute to the language of money. It is used to provide a print rich environment for the curriculum and run of day for Sparks Fly financial empowerment events.

The wealth word wall is also used as a background for “Can I Have Some Money” book readings, book signings, assembly programs and makes an interesting type of green carpet.

The children love to stand in front of the wealth wall and use words from the wall in sentences to explain how to use money wisely and plan for the future.

Yesterday’s event with the young people from P.S. 43 who spent the Columbus Day school holiday on a Sparks Fly field trip favored education and taking care of family as the primary uses of money. The learned that income, budgeting and attitude are the primary skills needed to achieve those results.

The children headed home with backpacks full of bank give always and hearts full of love from a fun day of financial empowerment.
